Product Details

The American company Du Pont manufactured the first nylon bristle toothbrush in 1938
(previously wild boar bristles were the most common bristle used !)
But they were hard and harsh on the gums and besides no-one was that bothered about cleaning their teeth.
It wasn't until after 1945 that attitudes to tooth brushing changed and toothbrushes became very popular.
And of course they needed a home of their own... Toothbrush Tubes !
And I found a box of them, most of the smaller boxes inside had disintegrated but I
saved this label from the end of one of them. The only Du Pont tube is the pink one, the more Deco looking ones  have HEMO on the outside and MADE IN ENGLAND embossed inside.

They are 17cm long so don't fit most modern toothbrushes, but do fit smaller travel ones, which is handy because you can now take this tube on holiday with you.
(the toothbrush in the photo is a 1950s one)
They are such a satisfying Deco design, and, of course, you don't need to put a toothbrush in it..make up pencils perhaps ?
